Life presents us with many challenges, and sometimes a team approach is needed to overcome them. Duchenne muscular dystrophy is one of the greatest challenges, yet it is a relatively unknown disease. Miłosz Klimczak was facing this disease when "Janiu" Czachor decided to do something that would raise public awareness about this condition and help raise funds for Miłosz's treatment.
There are many important goals and ways to promote and raise funds, so to break through to wider awareness, the team had to find a goal that would stimulate people's imagination.
The answer was to undertake a challenge that would be perceived not only as a sporting challenge but also unmistakably associated with facing adversity and difficult conditions. The team attempted to break the world record for the longest distance traveled on a diver propulsion vehicle (DPV), aiming to travel at least 300 kilometers underwater!
The project was a complete success: Janiu not only broke the existing world record for the distance traveled during a dive with a DPV, which in itself is a superhuman feat, but he exceeded the record by 50%. Using the Seacraft Ghost Scooter, Janiu covered an incredible distance of 450 km.
The entire event lasted 30 days, during which Janiu spent an unbelievable 180 hours underwater, averaging six hours of diving per day.
Although this project achieved significant success in raising awareness and helped in fundraising, the work to face the challenges that people like Miłosz encounter continues.
